We predict if Toronto FC will prevail in their last road match before they’re back home.
This is a big match for Toronto FC, and not because they are facing the reiging MLS champions. This is the club’s last road match before they head back home to the new revamped BMO field. Soon we can cheer on our Reds, but first they need to take care of the Portland Timbers.
Things havent gone too smoothly for Portland. They have nine points from eight games and their starting keeper, Adam Kwarasey is out for a month. Still, they are always a tough task and have only lost one home match at Providence Park.
For Toronto FC, they are coming off a very impressive derby match with the Montreal Impact, that saw them shutout their rivals and play some dominate football. Giovinco’s brace puts him four goals behind TFC leading goal scorer, Dwayne De Rosario and will have extra incentive to continuing his scoring feat.
We’re divided again on the predictions. Two of us say a TFC win, one of us predict a draw and one of us say that Portland will prevail. What do you think? Let us hear what you have to say!
David: I say 2-1 for the Reds. It’s going to be tough to contain their midfield with no Osorio, but as long as the forwards and defence play as well as they have so far, then they should still be good. Not to mention Will Johnson’s been looking forward to this game for a long time. The game will be tight throughout but our MVP will come up with a late winner to steal three points.
More from Toronto Reds
Anthony: I predict a 2-2 draw. Portland may be coming off a 1-1 draw with the New England Revlution and are second last in the tough West, but they are still the reging champs and have still have players that the Reds will need to watch out for. Also, the Timbers have only lost once at home so far. Goals by Giovinco and maybe even Altidore will be able to give TFC a point in their final away match before heading home.
Markus: I say 2-1 Portland. This may surprise for some people, but let’s not forget we’re playing the reigning champions at their home. Nagbe and Valeri will be too much to handle for Toronto’s midfield.
Matt: I’m going 2-1 TFC. We should really be taking the momentum from the derby into this match. We’ve been playing some solid football over this early road trip and I don’t see our defence letting up now. Yes, we are playing the reigning champions, but we’ve built a deep and solid squad that’s built for challenging for the MLS title and taking on strong oppositions. I believe that a draw will be more than sufficient, but in the end I think we can take three points.
