As Toronto FC enters a crucial phase of the 2025 preseason, the club remains focused on building momentum ahead of its MLS opener on February 23 against D.C. United.

The goal is clear: start the season with a statement victory and lay the foundation for a successful campaign under Robin Fraser’s leadership.

Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, Toronto FC has strengthened its squad modestly, bringing in Theo Corbeanu on loan. However, the club has placed a significant emphasis on developing young talent, as seen with the recent promotion of Adisa De Rosario to the first team.

Adisa De Rosario: A Bright Future Ahead

Toronto FC recently made official the signing of goalkeeper Adisa De Rosario to his first professional contract, marking a milestone for the young talent.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper will now wear the number 77 jersey, a number previously held by Jordan Perruzza, a 24-year-old Canadian forward who is currently without a club.

Perruzza had been part of Toronto FC’s setup since 2018, making a total of 74 appearances across the first team and academy, scoring 21 goals and providing four assists. Despite his contributions, he was never able to secure a consistent role in the squad, leading to his departure at the start of 2025.

With De Rosario now taking over the number 77 shirt, expectations are high for the young goalkeeper. His father, Dwayne De Rosario—one of the greatest players in Canadian soccer history— has already expressed his support, believing his son has the potential to become a key figure for Toronto FC.

A Long-Term Project in the Making

Toronto FC’s approach this season suggests a strong commitment to long-term development, with De Rosario seen as a crucial part of the club’s future. While he may not immediately take over the starting goalkeeper role, his signing signals that the club is investing in homegrown talent to build a sustainable project.

With less than a month until the MLS season begins, all eyes will be on Toronto FC as they prepare for their final preseason matches and fine-tune their squad. The hope is that this new era under Robin Fraser will bring stability, progress, and ultimately, success to The Reds.
