4 MLS Matches and the Canadian Championship Final
Toronto FC is coming off a somewhat hectic August. After their exit from the Leagues Cup, they had a good rest and several weeks of training, which should have helped them recover to be at peak physical condition for the final stretch of the season.
They are in a positive mindset heading into the five matches they have in September, four of which are in MLS, with the other being the Canadian Championship final. There will be a break due to the upcoming FIFA International window, where national teams will compete at the highest level, representing their countries. This break means that Toronto FC won't play again until September 14, when they face Austin in a new MLS match.
Just a few days later, they will host Columbus Crew, one of the toughest matches of the season and one that Toronto FC desperately needs to win.
On September 21, they will face Colorado Rapids away, followed by the much-anticipated Canadian Championship final against Vancouver Whitecaps, a do-or-die match. Finally, to close out the month, they will play Chicago Fire away on September 28, wrapping up a competitive month where they hope to secure several wins and, consequently, earn vital points to keep their playoff hopes alive in MLS.
With only two matches left in October, the race will be intense, as several teams, including Toronto FC, are eager to make it to the postseason. John Herdman is expected to ensure that his squad is fully prepared and at their best for these crucial games. After several disappointing seasons without making the playoffs, 2024 finally seems to be the year of change. Thanks to John Herdman, Toronto FC looks set to return to the MLS playoffs.
