Excitement Builds Ahead of This Match
The teams last met on July 10th in Hamilton, where Forge FC secured a 2-1 victory in a challenging game for Toronto FC, who were not in the best form at the time. Despite dominating possession, Toronto FC struggled to convert their chances into goals and ultimately lost after goals from Beni Badibanga and Kwasi Poku for Forge FC. Prince Owusu scored a crucial goal for John Herdman’s side, keeping their hopes alive for a comeback at BMO Field.
As they prepare for the August 27th match, Toronto FC will be looking to field their strongest lineup to compete at the highest level. The team hopes to create an atmosphere that asserts their status as the home side and favorites to win the game, showing their strength on the pitch.
The two teams come into the match in different forms. Forge FC has secured three wins, one loss, and one draw in their last five matches, placing them in a strong position in the Canadian Premier League and aiming to secure the top spot, and potentially the championship title.
On the other hand, Toronto FC has won four of their last five matches, with their only loss coming against Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup, where they were eliminated. However, they topped their group in the Leagues Cup with two wins and recently secured a positive victory against Houston Dynamo in MLS, putting them in a strong position heading into this match.
As the semifinal approaches, John Herdman hopes to have Lorenzo Insigne available, as he is one of the team’s key players and will be essential for the comeback attempt at BMO Field on July 27th.
