In a new round of MLS action, Toronto FC traveled to face Houston Dynamo in what was expected to be a challenging match. John Herdman had acknowledged in his pre-match comments that getting a result in Texas would be nearly impossible.

However, on August 24th, Toronto FC made it possible, securing a 1-0 victory over Houston Dynamo thanks to a goal from Prince Owusu. Just when it seemed like the match might end in a draw, Owusu’s goal in the second half sealed the win.

A Tough but Not Impossible Match for TFC to Secure the Victory

After several weeks without MLS action, fans were excited for the league’s return. Toronto FC’s match did not disappoint, delivering a thrilling encounter. John Herdman's side faced a tough battle but managed to come away with a fantastic win.

Herdman fielded a very competitive starting eleven despite several absences, with star player Federico Bernardeschi leading the way. It was Bernardeschi's left foot that provided a superb assist for Prince Owusu.

The first 45 minutes began with Toronto FC in control, but Houston Dynamo quickly turned things around, dominating much of the first half and creating several scoring opportunities that they failed to convert. The half ended 0-0.

Early in the second half, in the 54th minute, Toronto FC got a golden opportunity. From a corner kick, Federico Bernardeschi delivered a perfect pass to Prince Owusu, who scored to make it 1-0, ending his goal drought.

After the goal, Houston Dynamo pushed hard for an equalizer and even aimed to turn the match around, but Toronto FC's defense was impeccable. Thanks to crucial saves by Sean Johnson and key defensive plays by Kevin Long, Toronto managed to maintain their lead and secure the 1-0 victory.

The match ended 1-0 after a relentless attack and possession from Houston Dynamo, who were unable to score. With this win, Toronto FC moves up to eighth place, earning three vital points that bring them closer to seventh-placed Orlando City, who has 34 points.
