Nominations for Young Player of the Year
While Toronto FC's overall future may not yet be fully shaped, we can see how these two young players have shone. Both Nicksoen Gomis and Kosi Thompson have been nominated for Young Player of the Year.
The Canadian Kosi Thompson, at just 21 years old, had a solid season with Toronto FC. He competed in 29 MLS matches, accumulating 1,087 minutes, impressive numbers for such a young player. Thompson has gained valuable experience and has become an important impact player for John Herdman. This season, he mostly came off the bench, bringing a crucial spark to control matches. As a fascinating midfielder, he is seen as a promising talent for the future of TFC.
On the other hand, we have defender Nicksoen Gomis, who is also nominated for Defender of the Year. The French player arrived at Toronto FC to unlock his full potential. At 22 years old, he is still very young and has tremendous promise.
In MLS this season, Gomis played 24 matches, accumulating 2,046 minutes. He earned Herdman's trust to start in many of these matches. Unfortunately, injuries forced him to miss some games, but without those setbacks, he likely would have featured in all of Toronto FC's MLS matches.
Now, all eyes are on the voting, with hopes that Toronto FC can take home this prestigious Young Player of the Year award for one of these two standout talents. While competition for the MLS Young Player of the Year award is fierce, the voting is expected to show strong support for these two Toronto FC players.
