Two Crucial Matches for Toronto FC This Season

The end of the regular MLS season is approaching, and Toronto FC finds itself in a very difficult position. However, they hope to overcome adversity and qualify for the MLS playoffs in the Eastern Conference. In recent games, TFC has struggled significantly to secure a postseason spot.

Toronto FC to Close Out the Season at Home

Toronto FC will play both of their remaining matches at BMO Field, where John Herdman hopes to make the most of these days of training to correct defensive errors and improve the team’s attack, especially focusing on finishing plays. Often, TFC initiates good offensive plays, but they fail to turn them into shots on goal or clear scoring chances.

The two remaining matches will be against New York Red Bulls at BMO Field, followed by their final match against Inter Miami. Both games are scheduled for October 2 and October 5, just a few days apart.

John Herdman expects his team to be fully concentrated and highly motivated to perform at their best in these final matches. The dream of making it to the Eastern Conference playoffs is still alive. Although it’s a challenging task, it’s not impossible.

Toronto FC currently sits in 8th place with 37 points from 32 games. However, their closest rivals are right on their heels, with some even having played fewer games. For example, Philadelphia Union has played 31 matches and also has 37 points, as does CF Montreal. These two teams are the closest to overtaking TFC for that coveted eighth spot.
