In recent years, Toronto FC's performance and results in MLS have not been impressive. Particularly when aiming for a possible Playoff qualification, they have fallen short—so short that they even finished last in the Eastern Conference.

With a somewhat expensive roster, Toronto FC hasn't made many high-priced moves in the market. Having Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne has limited them from making extravagant purchases and restrained their spending on both transfer fees and salaries.

Colombian Talent Dominates MLS

Currently, several Colombian players are shining brightly in MLS. This is due to a search within the Colombian league that has helped reinforce MLS clubs with players of incredible potential.

Some of these players are making significant impacts, such as: Christian Arango (Top Scorer in MLS) playing for Real Salt Lake, Cucho Hernandez (One of the highest market value players in MLS at €13 million) playing for Columbus Crew, and Yeimar Andrade (A central defender with great stature and security in defense) playing for Seattle Sounders FC.

The Colombian league market currently has great players with innate talent for soccer. Here is a list of players in the market with accessible values, waiting for Toronto FC to make their move:

  • Yeison Guzmán €2.6M (Midfielder)
  • José Enamorado €2.4M (Forward)
  • Deiber Caicedo €2.4M (Midfielder)
  • Andrés Llinás €2.2M (Defender)

Toronto FC should look into this market for key pieces that could serve the future of the team. As the years take their toll on Federico Bernardeschi, Lorenzo Insigne, and Jonathan Osorio, TFC must seek a project focused on the future.
