It was a fiercely contested game, with Toronto FC aiming to dominate possession and score, while Philadelphia Union also sought to break their negative streak, just like TFC. However, TFC was also coming off a poor run in the Canadian Championship, with the team under John Herdman enduring seven consecutive defeats.

This victory was a much-needed positive boost for the team, led by a stellar performance from Lorenzo Insigne and a standout contribution from Deandre Kerr. Toronto FC managed to secure all three points at home, moving up to eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 27 points from 24 matches.

A Sensational Comeback for Toronto FC

However, it was Philadelphia Union who struck first, with Tai Baribo scoring in the 39th minute, sending the visitors into halftime with a lead. John Herdman's substitutions proved to be highly effective, as Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi, the team leaders, tirelessly sought a way to turn the game around. Toronto FC's equalizer came in the 74th minute thanks to an own goal by Jack Elliott, which was caused by a remarkable play from Deandre Kerr.

Minutes after the equalizer, Toronto FC completed the comeback with a second goal in the 78th minute, as Deandre Kerr scored a fantastic goal, assisted by Lorenzo Insigne. Kerr and Insigne were the standout players of the match, helping Toronto FC secure three points after nearly two months without a win in the MLS.

This victory is crucial for boosting the team's morale, and John Herdman will need to continue working with the players to maintain this positive momentum. Toronto FC will face Inter Miami on July 17th, although Miami's star player, Lionel Messi, will not be playing.
