Prince Owusu’s Performance Against Houston Dynamo
In this challenging match, Prince Owusu initially seemed somewhat lost on the field, as he was not typically accustomed to such a demanding defensive role. He was heavily involved in high pressing, with his defensive duties more pronounced due to Houston Dynamo's dominance in possession.
However, the breakthrough came in the 54th minute when Owusu capitalized on a corner kick delivered by Federico Bernardeschi, heading the ball into the net to give Toronto FC a 1-0 lead and ultimately securing three crucial points in MLS.
Owusu played the full 90 minutes of the match, registering two shots on target and two off-target attempts, showing his intent whenever he had a chance to shoot at Houston Dynamo’s goal. He had 36 touches of the ball and completed 50% of his passes (8/16).
Additionally, Owusu fought hard for every ball, winning 3 out of 7 ground duels and 2 out of 9 aerial duels. Despite losing possession 13 times, which occasionally caused problems for his team, this did not deter him. He continued to push forward, contributing in every way he could, and his perseverance was rewarded with the long-awaited goal for Toronto FC.
This goal marked the end of a six-match scoring drought for Owusu, whose last goal was in the July 10th match against Forge FC. That goal keeps Toronto FC's hopes alive as they prepare to overturn a challenging semifinal on August 27th at BMO Field.
