During this FIFA international break, Canada will play two high-level friendly matches, where 29-year-old Richie Laryea, who currently plays at the highest level in MLS with Toronto FC, will feature once again.

Laryea performed admirably for Canada in the Copa América this past June, where the team made a surprise run, even competing in the third-place playoff. Now, they are preparing as best as possible in these friendlies in anticipation of their next continental championship.

Richie Laryea's Form This Season

The Toronto FC player has been in strong form this season. In his last match against DC United, Laryea provided a crucial assist for Deandre Kerr’s goal, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for Toronto FC to secure a draw or a win, as they suffered a heavy 3-1 defeat.

In that match, Toronto FC did not show their best side. However, in the Canadian Championship semifinal, the team was nearly flawless, and Laryea was one of the standout players on the left flank, delivering impressive statistics.

Now, expectations are high for Laryea to bring his best form to the Canadian national team in the upcoming matches against the USA and Mexico, so that he can return to Toronto FC in peak shape for their next MLS match against Oxford United.

Toronto FC will need to compete at the highest level in order to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and prove that they are one of the top teams in the league capable of challenging for the championship. Under the guidance of John Herdman, the team’s progress has been evident, and fans are hoping for one of Richie Laryea’s best performances with Canada, similar to his outstanding showings in the 2024 Copa América.
