On May 25th, Toronto FC suffered a tough defeat at BMO Field, where FC Cincinnati, in a flurry of goals, managed to secure a 3-4 victory. Despite Toronto FC putting on a great performance without their star Bernardeschi, the visitors snatched the win in the final stretch of the match.

Jonathan Osorio also made his return for this game, taking to the field as captain and looking to contribute positively to TFC through his leadership and play.

Insigne's Quality Shines Despite the Defeat

Lorenzo Insigne took charge in the absence of Bernardeschi. The 32-year-old Italian became the leader in ball handling, greatly assisting in the attempt to secure 3 points for Toronto FC with the whole team. However, it proved impossible due to the attacking transitions that Cincinnati managed to score from in every action they had.

With a formidable performance throughout the match, Insigne tried at every moment to put TFC ahead on the scoreboard, but even a shot off the crossbar denied him the goal. Nevertheless, after 15 matches without scoring, his goal came via a penalty, making it 3-3 at that point.

Insigne ended the match with an assist and a goal, being Toronto FC's standout player in this unexpected defeat for The Reds. However, John Herdman emphasized post-match the importance of the Italian regaining confidence after his return from injury.

"It's important to see (Insigne) feel the game tonight, but also make a defensive shift and not get caught up in the excitement of the goals. He just got back to the task and found a way to drag the team along and bring his quality."

The next match for TFC will be on May 29th, as they visit Philadelphia Union, where they will look to secure a victory in another MLS match, hoping to reunite the two Italian stars, with Federico Bernardeschi's return, to lead Toronto FC to victory.
