During this FIFA break, players will represent their national teams, aiming to proudly carry their country’s name in the sports world. For Toronto FC, it's an honor to have players competing at a high level and representing their respective nations.

One such player is Jonathan Osorio, who has once again been called up to the Canadian national team for this double FIFA matchday. Canada will play two friendly matches as part of their preparations for upcoming continental tournaments, including the World Cup and regional competitions.

Jonathan Osorio’s Form This Season

For Toronto FC’s midfielder, this has been a fantastic period in the season, as he has consistently performed at a high level and proven why he is the captain of the team. Osorio has become a leader both on and off the pitch, managing the team's flow alongside Italian stars Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne.

Unfortunately, Jonathan Osorio was absent from the match against DC United, where his presence was sorely missed. Toronto FC struggled to control the game and ultimately suffered a 3-1 defeat, leaving them in a precarious position in MLS and the Eastern Conference standings. Osorio’s last match came against Forge FC in the Canadian Championship semifinal, where he delivered an outstanding performance, playing all 90 minutes.

In that match, Osorio had 63 touches, was highly active in midfield, and completed 91% of his passes (51 out of 56), along with providing two key passes. While he only managed one shot, which was off-target, his overall influence was evident.

Osorio remains deeply committed to Toronto FC, and John Herdman has skillfully managed the player to bring out his best at 32 years old. Having spent his entire career at the highest competitive level with Toronto FC, Osorio will now represent Canada in friendlies against the United States and Mexico. He is expected to start and play crucial minutes, returning to top form for Toronto FC’s MLS match against Oxford United on September 14th.
