Toronto FC showed their competitive spirit in the Leagues Cup, making it to the Round of 16 where they faced Inter Miami, one of the top teams in MLS and the reigning Leagues Cup champions.

With Toronto FC now eliminated, the team is set to benefit from a significant break to regain energy and return to MLS and the Canadian Championship in the best possible shape.

A nearly two-week break for Toronto FC

Currently, Toronto FC still has a strong chance of reaching the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. John Herdman's team is in 8th place with 27 points from 25 matches, still very much in contention and eager to compete at the highest level for a playoff spot.

The team is also still in the Canadian Championship, despite losing the first leg 2-1 to Forge FC. They look forward to the return leg at BMO Field, where they will be more comfortable at home but must remain aware of the strong opposition from Forge FC, who will be determined to secure a spot in the final.

This break is crucial for Toronto FC to recover the physical condition of many players and for those who are still recovering. They will return to action in almost two weeks, with an MLS match against Houston Dynamo on August 24, where they will seek three points to continue their push for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

On August 27, they will face Forge FC again in the second leg of the Canadian Championship semifinal at BMO Field. The expectation is for Toronto FC to present their best performance to advance to the final, with John Herdman focusing on physical recovery and maintaining the team’s mindset for the crucial final stretch of the season.
