In this transfer window, Toronto FC has sold one of their most promising young players, who, despite having impressive performances towards the end of the season and establishing himself positively in MLS, is now moving to a rival team.
Toronto FC has decided to sell this Canadian player, and surprisingly, it is to CF Montreal. The sale of Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty to CF Montreal has shocked fans of The Reds.

Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, the 20-Year-Old Player, Sold by Toronto FC
Heading to another Canadian team, this transfer comes at a time when the club prefers to secure financial gains rather than retain the player. Marshall-Rutty was sold for $1.3 million in general allocation money (GAM), with an additional $850,000 guaranteed in GAM and up to $450,000 more in conditional GAM.
This is a positive financial move for the team, but it means losing a player who was crucial in the latter part of the season. Marshall-Rutty had spent his entire career at Toronto FC, beginning with Toronto FC II in 2019 and moving up to the first team in 2020. He had a notable 5-year career with the club.
During the 2024 season, he played in all three of Toronto FC's competitions: the Canadian Championship, MLS, and Leagues Cup, appearing in 27 matches, scoring one goal, and providing 7 assists in over 1,100 minutes.
With a total of 96 appearances for Toronto FC, Marshall-Rutty, at just 20 years old, has shown great potential. However, he will now leave Toronto FC to join their major rival, CF Montreal.
