Jonathan Osorio’s Match with Canada

During this FIFA international break, Toronto FC players represented their country at the highest level. Both Jonathan Osorio and Richie Laryea were once again called up to represent Canada in a friendly match.

While Richie Laryea started the game, Jonathan Osorio was not in the starting lineup, as Jesse Marsch chose to have him begin on the bench. However, Osorio did come on in the second half, playing some important minutes.

Jonathan Osorio’s Statistics Against Panama

Canada only played one match in this international break, which is unusual as teams typically play two. This allowed the players to get more rest while still staying in form with a match at the end of the break. The friendly ended with a 2-1 victory for Canada, with the game being mostly dominated by the Canadians. However, a moment of brilliance from Panama led to them scoring a goal.

In the second half, at the 69th minute, José Fajardo equalized for Panama, making it 1-1 in a match that had largely been in Canada’s favor. But in the 87th minute, Jonathan David scored the final goal to secure a 2-1 win for Canada.

Jonathan Osorio came on in the 63rd minute, replacing Matthew Choinière, and played 24 minutes. During that time, he had 11 touches and completed 89% of his passes, successfully completing 8 of the 9 he attempted. While he wasn’t heavily involved in the match, Osorio made some solid plays during his time on the pitch, proving to be an important midfielder for the team.
