13 Toronto FC Players' Contracts Expire in December
• Several players will consider extending their contracts with the club.

The 2024 season has been quite eventful for Toronto FC. While the team has worked hard under John Herdman, the results have not been as successful as hoped. Unfortunately, Toronto FC was eliminated from the MLS Playoffs in the Eastern Conference and also lost the final in the 2024 Canadian Championship.
These poor results mean that the team will now need to evaluate its strategy for rebuilding the club’s identity and establishing a long-term project with committed players who can drive competitiveness year after year.

Which Players Should Stay at Toronto FC?
Currently, Toronto FC has a large squad, but several players’ contracts expire in December 2024. Key players such as Prince Owusu, Deandre Kerr, Brandon Servania, Kosi Thompson, Alonso Coello, Kobe Franklin, Tyrese Spicer, Kevin Long, Shane O'Neill, Aimee Mabika, Greg Ranjitsingh, and Luka Gavran are among those who may not be with the team next year unless their contracts are renewed.
However, some of these players have the option for an additional year or two in their current deals, which means Toronto FC could offer extensions.
Based on the minutes played by several of these players, it is likely that around six of them will renew with the club. The players expected to continue include Prince Owusu, Deandre Kerr, Kosi Thompson, Alonso Coello, Brandon Servania, and Luka Gavran. It will be crucial to see what decisions the club’s upper management makes in terms of signings and departures as part of the team’s rebuilding efforts.
