Toronto FC may have an unexpected reinforcement in their preseason camp. Reports suggest that 32-year-old English midfielder Jack Price has been training with the squad, though his arrival has yet to be officially announced.

Price, currently without a club, was listed as an unnamed trialist during Toronto FC’s recent friendly against Fredrikstad FK on January 30, where he even appeared in the starting lineup.

Price is no stranger to head coach Robin Fraser. The midfielder previously played under Fraser at Colorado Rapids, where he served as club captain and was a key figure in the squad.

His leadership and experience could be a valuable asset for Toronto FC, especially as they aim to rebuild after a disappointing 2024 season.

A Familiar Face with MLS Experience

Price has extensive experience in Major League Soccer, having played for Colorado Rapids from 2018 to 2023. During his time in Denver, he made 130 appearances, scoring two goals and providing 29 assists.

While primarily known for his defensive contributions, Price also demonstrated his ability to support the attack when needed.

After leaving the Rapids, Price had a brief stint in English football with Cheltenham Town during the 2023-24 season.

However, his time there was short-lived, as he played only four matches, scoring once in 72 minutes of total game time. Now, he appears to be on the verge of a return to MLS, with Toronto FC potentially offering him a fresh start.

A Crucial Signing for Toronto FC?

Toronto FC has been relatively quiet in the transfer market, with Theo Corbeanu being their only confirmed signing so far. The addition of Price could bolster their midfield and provide crucial depth, especially with the club’s aspirations to qualify for the MLS playoffs and win the Canadian Championship in 2025.

While no official announcement has been made, all signs point to Price being a strong candidate for a Toronto FC contract. His familiarity with Fraser’s tactics, combined with his experience in MLS, makes him a logical addition to the squad. If finalized, this move could help solidify Toronto’s midfield as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
