According to Tom Bogert, Toronto FC is close to obtaining Hungarian international Daniel Salloi.

The 29-year-old winger is set to join Toronto FC after spending 10 seasons with Sporting Kansas City. Salloi has made a total of 286 appearances for SKC and has scored 67 goals in all competitions.

In 2019, Daniel Salloi obtained his green card to work in the U.S. In 2024, he obtained his American citizenship - which means he will not take up an international spot on TFC's roster.

How will he fit in at Toronto FC?

Dániel Sallói enters Toronto FC’s 2026 roster as a versatile attacking threat, primarily slated to address the club’s scoring drought after they managed only 37 goals last season. As a proven MLS veteran with 67 goals and 43 assists, Salloi provides a high-level attacking option that can operate both as a winger and a central striker.

On the pitch, Sallói is expected to hit the ground running, having already participated in pre-season training with Sporting KC. His ability to "cut inside" and his history of delivering match-winning goals make him a natural fit for a Toronto side looking to bridge the gap to the playoffs. He will likely form a an attacking partnership with Djordje Mihailovic and de facto starting striker Deandre Kerr.

Thanks to the convoluted MLS roster rules, his acquisition as a non-Designated Player (DP) using General Allocation Money provides GM Jason Hernandez front office with some roster flexibility to add more high-profile targets like Josh Sargent.
