Toronto FC's great gem says goodbye to join York United FC

Toronto FC is making headlines both on and off the pitch during their preseason in Marbella, Spain, under the guidance of Robin Fraser.

While the team focuses on improving its performance through rigorous training and upcoming friendly matches, the club has confirmed the departure of defender Luke Singh. The 24-year-old joins York United FC, a team based in York, Ontario, competing in the Canadian Premier League since 2019.

A Fresh Start for Luke Singh

Singh’s journey with Toronto FC began in 2019 when he joined the academy, but his time with the club has been challenging. Despite being part of the setup for several years, Singh struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team, which led to multiple loan spells.

He made his debut for Toronto FC in the 2021 season, where he featured in eight matches and scored one goal. Additionally, he played seven games for Toronto FC II, contributing two goals. However, consistent opportunities in the first team remained elusive.

To gain experience, Singh was loaned out to FC Edmonton and Atlético Ottawa, where he enjoyed more significant playing time. These stints showcased his potential and prepared him for his next chapter with York United FC.

Now, Singh has signed a contract with York United through December 2025, with an option to extend until 2027. This move offers him a fresh opportunity to solidify his career and gain valuable minutes in Canada’s top-flight league.
