In what can only be described as a tumultuous year, Toronto FC endured a harrowing 2023, closing the chapter with a staggering 17 losses in the last 18 official matches played. This dismal performance, spanning MLS and two other tournaments, surpassed the woes of their already troubled 2022 season.

The 2022 season saw Toronto FC secure a mere 34 points, landing them second to last in the entire MLS and the Eastern Conference. However, 2023 witnessed an even more dismal outcome as the team could only muster 22 points, sealing their fate as the bottom-dweller in the Eastern Conference and the entire league. To add insult to injury, they earned the "Wooden Spoon" for finishing in the last place, a first in their MLS history since joining in 2007.

Toronto FC had little to celebrate, enduring a season filled with disappointment. With three coaches at the helm throughout the year, including John Herdman stepping onto the field in the final match to alter the course, the team struggled to find a silver lining.

Despite a few bright spots, such as Federico Bernardeschi's Olympic goal in Matchday 6 against Charlotte FC, Toronto FC faced a series of defeats, including losing all three encounters against Montreal, two of which were at home.

In the 37 matches contested, Toronto FC managed only 4 victories, drawing 10 and suffering 23 defeats. The team conceded a staggering 67 goals, a relentless barrage that underscored their tumultuous season.

Even in cup competitions, Toronto FC's misfortunes persisted. A quick exit in the Canadian Championship, succumbing to Montreal in the quarters, and a humbling defeat in the Leagues Cup showcased the team's struggles beyond regular MLS fixtures.
