Toronto FC fans have reason to cheer as the club makes a strategic move, announcing the acquisition of winger Derrick Etienne Jr. in a trade with Atlanta United FC.

The deal, valued at $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), showcases the club's commitment to strengthening its roster for the upcoming season. Additionally, Atlanta United FC could potentially receive an extra $175,000 GAM based on performance-based metrics.

Etienne, with eight seasons of Major League Soccer experience under his belt, brings a wealth of talent and versatility to Toronto FC. Throughout his career, the 27-year-old has showcased his skills while representing various Eastern Conference clubs, including New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew, and Atlanta United FC.

Notably, he has celebrated victories such as the Supporters' Shield, MLS Cup, and Campeones Cup, demonstrating his ability to thrive under pressure and contribute to championship-winning teams.

During his tenure with Atlanta United FC, Etienne made significant contributions, tallying two assists over two seasons. Before his time with the 5-Stripes, he made a lasting impact at Columbus Crew, where he netted 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 90 appearances.

Etienne's journey in MLS began with the New York Red Bulls, where he emerged as a Homegrown player. Over four seasons, he showcased his talent with six goals and four assists.

His international experience with the Haiti National Team further adds to his credentials, with 41 caps, eight goals, and seven assists to his name. With Etienne on board, Toronto FC aims to elevate its performance and compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.
