Toronto FC recently recalled a fantastic goal scored on this day, August 17, two years ago. It was scored by one of their most fondly remembered former players, who had an important but brief stint with the team during the 2022 season. The player joined MLS to bolster Toronto FC but, due to his age, could only stay for a year before returning to Europe.
Currently, the former Italian footballer, now retired from playing, lives on in the cherished memories of TFC fans after competing at a high level in every match he played in MLS with Toronto FC.

The player in question is Italian Domenico Criscito
This 37-year-old former footballer had a remarkable career in Europe, where he played in various European leagues, leaving his most significant mark in Serie A, with around 228 appearances for Juventus and Genoa.
He took a significant step by joining MLS, where he strengthened Toronto FC in 2022. During that year, he played 16 matches and scored one of the most memorable goals in Toronto FC history, which the club fondly recalled on social media. This goal was scored in a 2-2 draw against New England Revolution.
Domenico Criscito is now the coach of Genoa U17, working with the club he loves after defending its colors for many years. However, he was professional enough to explore new horizons, finding a new path with Toronto FC, where he was warmly welcomed and played over 1,200 minutes in The Reds' jersey.
He is remembered with great affection as a fantastic footballer who made a significant impact in Europe and proudly wore the colors of Toronto FC.
