Last summer's recruit until 2026, Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel (25), sees his future lying far from Nantes. The former Saint-Étienne player (2016-2018), omitted from the Marbella training camp, has piqued the interest of Toronto FC (MLS). Ongoing discussions between the clubs continue, while several Championship teams, including Cardiff, have also thrown their hat into the ring.

Arriving on the banks of the Erdre during the 2023 summer transfer window, the former Strasbourg defender featured in twelve matches with FC Nantes in the first half of the Ligue 1 season. Starting only six times, the Frenchman has played just 160 minutes since the Lorient game on September 23.

Despite being under contract with FC Nantes until 2026, the right-back could be released this winter by the Yellow and Green club to facilitate his move to the desired team. This possibility was suggested by Simon Reungoat, a journalist for Hit West, on his X account.

According to L'Équipe, Toronto FC has already initiated discussions with Nantes' board. While the Canadian club, finishing last in MLS last season, seems to be leading the race, several Championship teams have also "positioned" themselves. Among them is the Welsh club Cardiff City, which is still entangled in a legal battle with FC Nantes following the tragic death of Emiliano Sala.
