On February 2, Valour FC unveiled a significant acquisition, signing Canadian defender Themi Antonoglou to a contract. The move was met with enthusiasm from Valour FC Head Coach & General Manager Phillip Dos Santos, who anticipates Antonoglou's invaluable contributions to the team.
Dos Santos expressed confidence in Antonoglou's capabilities, citing his composure on the ball and adept situational awareness, honed during his tenure with Toronto FC, “Themi will bring undeniable quality to our squad,” said Phillip Dos Santos. “He’s a player who acquired valuable experience in the past few years with TFC. I like his composure on the ball and ability to read situations well on the field.”
Antonoglou's journey into professional soccer began with Toronto FC Academy, where he debuted for Toronto FC III in League1 Ontario against Vaughan Azzurri on September 18, 2018. His professional debut occurred with Toronto FC II in USL League One in 2019, facing the Richmond Kickers.
The culmination of his development saw him officially join Toronto FC II, signing his inaugural professional contract in July 2020.
As Antonoglou makes the transition to the Canadian Premier League (CPL), a new environment awaits him at Valour FC. The familiarity of former TFC II teammate Jordan Faria, who also secured a deal with Valour for the 2024 domestic campaign, provides a sense of continuity and support.
In embarking on this new chapter of his career, we extend our heartfelt wishes to Themi Antonoglou for a prosperous journey with Valour FC. May his skills and experience contribute significantly to the team's achievements, and may this opportunity mark another milestone in his evolving and promising soccer career. Here's to a successful tenure with Valour FC!
