The absences of Toronto for matchday 9 of the MLS
By Oscar Cortes
Toronto's current form hasn't been the best this season. Although recent defeats in the last three MLS matches have left them in a rather unfavorable position in the Eastern group standings, with 10 points from 8 games, they are on the brink of missing out on the playoffs.
BMO Field is getting ready for an exciting match between Toronto and New England
On April 20th, they will take on the New England Revolution, and playing at home, they hope to earn three crucial points to climb the standings and secure a spot among the top 8 teams in the MLS Eastern group.
However, they will have several absences to contend with for this match, affecting the squad led by John Herdman, due to injuries and some players' discomfort, as well as Kevin Long, who was red-carded in the last match against Charlotte in the 90th + 8 minute.
The following players will not be available for the match against the New England Revolution:
- Alonso Coello - Concussion Protocol (Out)
- Lorenzo Insigne - Thigh (Out)
- Richie Laryea - Thigh (Out)
- Kevin Long - Not Due to Injury (Out)
- Shane O'Neill - Thigh (Out)
- Brandon Servania - Knee (Out)
- Federico Bernardeschi - Thigh (Questionable)
- Raoul Petretta - Thigh (Questionable)
Despite these absences, Toronto's top scorer, Prince-Osei Owusu, will be available, and it's hoped he can continue adding goals for Toronto.
The match will take place at BMO Field at 7:30 PM (Canada time), and it promises to be an eagerly anticipated encounter between two teams with a long history in MLS competition. Both teams have a clear objective: to win. However, the pressure is higher for Toronto, playing at home with their fans backing them for this match.
