Official: Toronto FC signs Deiby Flores!
In a surprising turn of events, Honduran international Deiby Flores is poised to make a major career shift during the winter transfer window as he switches teams.
The 27-year-old midfielder has concluded his stint with Hungary's Fehérvár in the top-flight league, terminating his contract with a year remaining. Flores, who played the entire 2023 season with Fehérvár, featuring in 31 matches, has decided to forego the remaining year.
Having arrived in Europe in the summer of 2021 to play a season and a half with Greece's Panetolikos, Flores is now leaving European football for a potential move to Major League Soccer (MLS). The deal, masterminded by his agent, Spanish representative Paulo Hernández, has been finalized.
The imminent transfer to Toronto comes in response to strong interest from coach John Herdman, who led Canada in the 2022 World Cup and sees Flores as a valuable addition to the team's ongoing project.
