Lorenzo Insigne's Stats Against DC United
It's no secret that Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are currently the most important players for Toronto FC. However, while Bernardeschi couldn't play in this match, Insigne was expected to take the lead for the team. Unfortunately, Insigne was unable to play the full 90 minutes due to physical conditions, as fatigue and exhaustion after his previous match against Forge FC led to him being substituted in the 75th minute.
He was replaced by Deandre Kerr, who went on to score a consolation goal for Toronto FC, but it wasn’t enough to equalize or win the match. In his 75 minutes on the field, Lorenzo Insigne recorded 37 touches, where he was instrumental in the team's playmaking, completing 75% of his 28 attempted passes.
Insigne was also one of the most active players in trying to score, taking two shots, with one of them on target, posing a significant threat to the opposition's goal, though it did not result in a goal. Despite this, it’s clear that Insigne continues to give his all on the pitch. However, at 33 years old, his age and injury history have started to limit his ability to fully exploit his potential.
Nevertheless, these challenges have not stopped the Italian from being one of the most important players in both MLS and Toronto FC. The team is counting on him to continue contributing his quality to help Toronto FC secure a spot in the playoffs, where they hope to compete and potentially win the MLS Cup. Such an achievement would be a special milestone for the Italians and particularly for John Herdman in his first season as head coach.
