Unfortunately, losses keep piling up for Toronto FC in MLS, adding nothing positive in this final stretch of the season. TFC is in a very tough spot in the Eastern Conference, hoping to make a push for the playoffs by competing for a spot among the top teams in MLS.
But this dream is starting to fade due to the string of defeats they’ve suffered match after match in MLS. In this final stretch of the season, we’ve seen a challenging schedule for John Herdman’s team, and now they will need to focus for a moment on the Canadian Championship final before continuing their MLS campaign.

A Difficult Away Match
The team fielded some interesting players for this game. John Herdman was looking to manage his squad carefully, knowing that on September 25th, they will face Vancouver FC in the final of the Canadian Championship, a match that will determine the best team in Canada. To this end, he rested several key players, starting with Federico Bernardeschi, who began on the bench, and Lorenzo Insigne, who did not play at all.
The first half saw chances for both teams, but neither side was able to capitalize. The breakthrough came early in the second half when Colorado Rapids took the lead in the 52nd minute with a goal from Reggie Cannon. This was a tough blow for Toronto FC, who quickly brought on Federico Bernardeschi for Kobe Franklin in the 56th minute, in an effort to take control of the ball and find an equalizer later in the match.
However, in the 90th minute, an unfortunate incident occurred when Toronto conceded a penalty, which was converted by Dorde Mihailovic, the standout player of the match. The game ended 2-0 in favor of Colorado Rapids.
Now, TFC must turn their attention to how they will handle their match on September 25th against Vancouver FC in the final of the Canadian Championship. After that, they will need to focus on their away game against Chicago Fire on September 28th. It’s a very competitive and challenging schedule for John Herdman’s side, who still believe there’s a chance to win it all.
