Canada National Team Bets on These 2 Toronto FC Stars
By Oscar Cortes
On May 27, the Canada National Team announced their squad for the matches against the Netherlands (June 6) and France (June 9). These friendlies are part of the Canadian team's preparation for the Copa America, which begins on June 20.
The chosen TFC players for these international competitions are Jonathan Osorio and Richie Laryea, who have been positively representing MLS and especially Toronto FC in the international competitions during these FIFA dates.
Important call-up for Osorio and Laryea
Jonathan Osorio and Richie Laryea will seek to gain minutes with their national team to secure a spot on the final roster for the Copa America. It is expected that after their last friendly match against France on June 9, the official list of players representing Canada in the Copa America will be announced.
For Toronto FC, these two players could be significant absences for much of June and July if their participation in the Copa America is confirmed. The international tournament runs from June 20 to July 14, causing them to miss around nine matches for TFC during these dates.
The Current Form of Both Players with TFC
Despite the current situation Richie Laryea is experiencing, with practically no participation this season with Toronto FC, he has been called up for his leadership and his extensive experience with the Canadian national team, where he has accumulated 48 matches, contributing 2 goals and 6 assists for Canada.
On the other hand, Jonathan Osorio's season with Toronto FC has not been the best in terms of performance, but his international career with Canada is crucial for the national team. His call-up was inevitable due to his significant contribution in the midfield.
It is an honor for Toronto FC that their players are called up for their respective national teams, showcasing the contribution of their athletes within MLS and their significant role in being selected to represent their countries in international competitions.
