Deandre Kerr, the Goalscorer for Toronto FC
In this match, it was clear that the team wasn’t in sync as expected. Despite coming off a crucial victory against Forge FC in the Canadian Championship to reach the final, the same competitive spirit wasn’t visible, especially with the MLS playoffs approaching and Toronto FC aiming to secure a spot.
Deandre Kerr only played 15 minutes but was crucial in scoring a goal that gave Toronto FC some hope. Kerr came on in the 75th minute, replacing Lorenzo Insigne, and it took him just 7 minutes to equalize 1-1, giving John Herdman’s side hope of not just earning a point but possibly winning the match. Unfortunately for Toronto FC, DC United scored twice in the last 5 minutes of the game, with goals in the 88th and 90+3 minutes, sealing the win and leaving TFC empty-handed in this MLS fixture.
Reviewing Deandre Kerr’s performance, he played 15 minutes, scored a goal, and had 100% shot accuracy. He completed one successful dribble, attempting to break down DC United's defense, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the team.
He had 6 touches, with a 50% pass completion rate, and was active in both aerial and ground duels, winning 2 out of 3 aerial duels and 2 out of 5 ground duels. Kerr tried to be as involved as possible during his 15 minutes on the pitch to contribute to John Herdman’s team, but sadly, it ended in defeat.
However, Deandre Kerr continues to show promise. At 21 years old, he has already scored multiple goals this season, having played 20 matches, scored 2 goals, and provided one assist. He’s steadily establishing himself as a positive influence in the team, and there are high expectations for his future with the club.
