Staff Predictions: Toronto FC vs New York City FC

We predict the outcome for tonights East matchup between Toronto FC and New York City FC.

Toronto FC will look to quickly bounce back after a tough 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps. This will be the club’s second time facing off, as the first match ended 2-2 after two quick goals from David Villa and then were brought back into the game thanks to a Damien Perquis tipped shot and a Sebastian Giovinco goal.

NYCFC are coming off an impressive third straight win and look to be finding themselves after struggling early on. Head coach Patrick Viera looks to be adapting to the league well, and that could spell trouble for the Reds.

We came to the conclusion that NYCFC are a good side and will give TFC are hard time tonight. Villa has owned TFC and Andrea Pirlo.. is Andrea Pirlo. Thomas McNamara has also done well and will look to continue his fine run of form.

Predictions:

David: So I used FIFA 16 for this match and it came out scoreless. Keep in mind, this is a team that we’ve never beat and with Altidore out, we lose a big size advantage as well as a decoy for Seba. It’ll be harder for him to find opening’s and distribute the ball. The way NYCFC are playing though, I’d be content with a draw.

Anthony: I predict a 1-1 draw. TFC may have lost against the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-3 on Saturday, but showed that they had the ability to get back into that match. After a slow start to their season NYCFC are coming off three straight win and look to be buying into Patrick Viera’s system. I expect TFC’s backline to be strong this time and bounce back from a high scoring match.

Matt: I’ll go 2-1 TFC again. NYCFC are a decent squad, and they certainly have some star power with Villa and Pirlo. However, I don’t think they are strong enough defensively to stop Giovinco, who’s been on the warpath.

Markus: I say a 2-2 draw for TFC, a repeat of the first fixture. I think NYCFC will go hard on Seba and our defence hasn’t completely rebounded yet. One for Seba and the other for Johnson. McNamara bags a brace.
